1 - About

In a internet application (web, …), the term resource is used in a general sense for whatever might be identified by a URI (ie a URL for the web):

  • an image,
  • a source of information with a consistent purpose (e.g., “today's weather report for Los Angeles”),
  • a service (e.g., an HTTP-to-SMS gateway),
  • a database
  • human beings,
  • corporations,
  • books found in a library

A resource might not be singular in nature. A resource might be:

  • a named set
  • a mapping that varies over time
