The Present Continuous is used when :

  • we are in the middle of an action :

  • we are in the middle of something but not actually doing it at the moment of speaking
    • I'm just get back to the office. We're working on a new project.
  • things are changing over a long time :
    • The earth is slowly getting
  • you have an arrangement
    • I'm playing badminton with Matthew tomorrow
