File - (File Store|Volume|Partition)
1 - About
A file store is a volume or partition in which files are stored.
For example, in a native (OS) file system, are considered file stores:
- on the Windows platform, c: or d: are file stores.
- On the Linux operating system, / (root) and mounted directories .
File systems are used on data storage devices to maintain the physical location of the files. Beyond this, they might provide access to data on a file server by acting as clients for a network protocol (e.g., NFS, SMB, or 9P clients), or they may be virtual and exist only as an access method for virtual data (e.g., procfs).
