The exponential Distribution is the interval between two events that you might see in a Poisson distribution.

Like the Gaussian and binomial model (distribution), the Poisson is a member of the exponential family of distributions.

waiting time follows an Exponential Distribution in the real world Exponential distributions follow the “waiting time” between events such as visits to a web site within a fixed interval.
