The human vision has four unique colors:

• red,
• green,
• blue,
• and yellow.

For human applications, three primary colors are typically used, since human color vision is trichromatic.

Our eyes work with 3 cones, each of which sense a different point on the light spectrum.

The lab colorspace uses them all four, rgb and ryb uses only three.
