An entity instance is a single occurrence of an entity.
- In a database model, a row where the Primary Key identifies a single instance
- in Mathematics, a tuple.

- In dynamic language, a struct or a class.
In a database environment, an entity is commonly implemented by a table and an instance by a row. An orphan instance is one that does not have a corresponding existing parent record.
